Beautiful Start

This book is a beautiful start to the series that introduces you to a lot of memorable moments that I felt was enjoyable. It was a shame this series did not last longer but from what you can read it is truly a stunning journey.

Story Stops Half Way Through to Make You Buy the Next One, If You Want to Find Out How it Ends

Let me firstly say I'm a huge fan of Avril Lavigne, I've got all her albums, she's one of the few modern era young musicians who actually writes her own songs and lyrics. It is obvious though, that the editor, book publishers or whoever should have insisted she play a bit heavier part in writing this thing, as it is simply a pretty mediocre storyline. On the first page, we get a message from Avril where she tells us she is excited at the opportunity to create a graphic novel. However what part she actually played is a bit ambiguous as the concept on the next page is claimed by someone called Camilla d-Errico. Camilla also claims to have done the art and written the thing with someone else called Joshua Dysart. So did Avril sit around a boardroom table with these guys and give suggestions for the plot, who knows. One's things for sure, that amazing lyric writing talent should have been used instead of the drivel d-Errico and Dysart came up with. Saying what they wrote is pretty average is being very kind. There's hardly any substance to the plot of an unpopular loner girl, who talks to her imaginary hero and friend (Avril Lavigne). Hana stumbles upon a website called Makes Wishes and it's not really explained what she does or why but a box arrives with a very poorly drawn multiple horned red demon inside who encourages her rebellious streak such as urinating in the street. Oh and if she snaps of each of its five horns she gets a wish for each. Avril warns her time and again to not use the demon but Hana wants a better life.

The pictures are pretty average as well. Most of the characters look the same, even one of the girls who was making fun of Hana looked exactly like her but taller. The Avril Lavigne imaginary friend looks nothing like Avril, although they do seem to be able to draw Avril as she looks more realistic in the posters on walls.

Plus we have the ultimate con, the graphic novel doesn't actually end. It just cuts out as if a whole story was written and ripped in two. So therefore if one of your five wishes was to know if two of Hana's four wishes made so far will also come true, as well as what her fifth is, you'll have to buy volume 2. Unethically this isn't mentioned anywhere on the cover. Buying this you'd assume it's a standalone read.

i thought this was a very nice little manga series. i give it 4 stars only because i really think volume 2 didn't give any real resolution. i also give it 4 stars because i felt that the main character has great relateability. wish there had been a third volume, but i highly reccomend. i think it's a lot better than the manga series they did based off Courtney Love.

The delivery of the book was very prompt. But, the shape of the book, was almost poor condition!!! It had a dried spilled stain 1/3 of the way through the book and when you open the book to the middle it is falling apart. I will be lucky if it holds together throughout my semesters!!!

I am currently a student in an EMT Academy and I bought this Quick Study guide to help me remember important facts at any given moment. This guide opens up to have six pages of information. Everything is easily read and easy to find. The information includes everything from patient assessment, medical and legal issues, communications, documentation, scene size up and management, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, pediatric and geriatric differences, pharmacology, toxicology, hazardous materials, environmental emergencies and anatomical medical terminology. I rate this item at five stars because it has been an asset to my developing skills as an EMT.

the unofficial guide to togaf

My biggest problem with the official study guide for TOGAF that it only appears to be available in PDF format. I like to scribble in a book as a study. For only $20, this book comes printed. Kevin Lindy's book also has the advantages of being shorter and having more practice questions. Good news all around.

Some of the questions in Kevin's book are harder than the real exam questions. Especially "which 5 of the following 8 are true" type questions. But they were good for reinforcing knowledge and looking for keywords in the answers.

I found a couple of questions with suspect errors so I'm giving four stars instead of five. But it was still worth it. I found it significantly easier to learn from Kevin's book than then official study guide. It was a great investment of $20.

Helped me pass the part1 Foundation Exam.

I have to attribute a fair amount of my success in passing the Part 1 Foundation exam to this book. It went into just enough detail to give a good understanding of the terminology, vocabulary and concepts/ideas/objectives of the key parts of TOGAF and the ADM. Many of the chapter end questions were of the 'Which of the following 3, 4, etc are part of the..." . Most of the mock exams on the internet seem to focus on the 'Which is NOT a part of ...." I think, together - this book, in combination with other internet sources for mock exams can equip you with enough confidence to get through the 'memorization' oriented Part 1 exam.

I did the class but it left a few missing pieces, so I used this to augment the information and to provide a double check. It was great - very clear on topics that were muddy in the class and had a good subset of the information.

Best text for refinery process engineering --- not saying much

Oddly, only one reference book proved adequate, in my opinion, in explaining refinery science: "William Leffler's "Petroleum Refining." The others, including "Petroleum Refining, Technology and Economics," by James Gary, Glenn Handwerk, and Mark Kaiser, "Refining Processes Handbook," by Surinder Parkash, and even the venerable "Petroleum Processing Handbook," by Bland and Davidson. Leffler wins out because his process descriptions are fairly detailed compared to the others while balancing a need to be understood by the non-technically educated. Where this text, by Gary, Handwerk, and Kaiser fails is its lack of detailed process design information.

For example, I was somewhat disappointed in the section on hydrotreating. This process involves removal of nitrogen and sulfur and alkylation of alkenes, phenols and benzenes from a feed of gas oils recovered from a pipestill. Tables provided showed the expected performance for the catalyst beds; some discussion was presented of the differences between fixed bed reactors and moving bed reactors. Only scant information was provided on reactor design. Even though it might have risked going into detail about a particular catalyst at the expense of others there was no exploration beyond mere statements of information such as hydrogen consumption and space velocity requirements. A good example of the failure to provide detail design information is the authors' reluctance to provide hydrogen consumption information in section 9.5.

Instead, the reader is referred to a monograph written by W.L. Nelson in 1971 for the Oil and Gas Journal. Why not present the data?

This situation highlights the primary problem with this text and the others: a lack of process design information. This book would have to grow by another hundred pages to meet his ambitions goal of providing a good reference for petroleum refining. Only Leffler meets this goal ¯ and, he does it without the science and engineering required in the other references.

Unless you want incomplete details on the subject of petroleum refining, buy Leffler, not this text. However, of the others, this is a good reference book for the subject. Be prepared to fill in the copious quantities of gaps in information. Maybe, you should buy Leffler and this text.

Excellent overview

I am an investment analyst and used this book to get up to speed on an unfamiliar industry. I found it to be clear, well organized, and containing all the info I needed to understand the dynamics driving the business and the lingo. There was more engineering and scientific info than I needed for my purposes, but it was useful to thumb through those chapters to get a high level understanding of the issues. Highly recommended for people new to the industry.

Worthless Textbook

One of the authors was actually my professor for a very poorly taught Managerial Accounting course. Book is not well organized and overpriced. Only used it twice as a quick reference. Buy the international edition if you really need this for an accounting class.

Horgren - Introduction to management accounting

Typically little substantive differences in each edition of this text book (and most of them for that matter). They are abusively priced and the authors' and publishers' willingness to exploit this vulnerable target market with respect to pricing is nothing less than decadent. A new edition means that no used copies are available to students. I encourage the educators to avoid the new additions and work with the latest "old" edition available as used text books in order to provide the students and their parents a little relief. They're already exploited enough as a somewhat captive audience. I would encourage the authors and publishers to give the students a break. Are you not sensitive to this?

Does not come with the code. It is $50 less direct from publisher.

Cons: I bought the digital book thinking that I would save a bunch of money on the digital version. At first you think you are saving $100, especially because the listing leads you to believe that it comes with the code. However, it does not come with the code for the online lab. That code is an additional $60. Not only that, but when you go buy the code from the publisher, you find that the publisher is selling the digital version direct for $100.

Pros: The book is high quality. I prefer the digital because it is indexed, you can search, and you can cut and paste. I use it on my tablet and I like that I do not have to carry around a text book.
