About the Author
Ray V. Herren has been actively involved in agriculture for most of his life. He grew up on a diversified farm, where he played a major role in the production of livestock. He obtained a bachelor of science degree in agricultural education from Auburn University, a master's degree in agribusiness education from Alabama A & M, and a doctorate in vocational education (with an emphasis in agricultural education) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Herren has taught at Virginia Tech, Oregon State University, and the University of Georgia in Athens, where he recently retired as head of the Department of Agriculture Leadership, Education, and Communication. In addition to being a national leader in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Alumni organization, he has served on numerous committees from the local to international level, including a national task force to develop FFA programs for middle school and the National Committee for Career Development Events. His prolific scholarly activity includes 26 journal articles, 51 invited or refereed presentations, and 12 books and manuals. He has also earned several awards for his commitment to service, as well as UGA's prestigious College of Education Outstanding Teaching Award.

Really crummy book. The text takes up only about half of each page when there aren't pictures. When there are pictures, they are almost always stock images of scientists swirling test tubes or looking at rows of crops. The paper quality is terrible- like magazine paper but much thinner. There is some good information peppered throughout the book, but overall it's just another low quality, high cost book.

About the Author
Jerome Goddard grew up in Booneville, Mississippi and attended college at the University of Mississippi (B.A. and M.S.) and Mississippi State University (Ph.D.). He is currently an Extension Professor of Medical and Veterinary Entomology at Mississippi State University.

Rosella Goddard is from Luka, Mississippi and has a B.A.E. from the University of Mississippi. She homeschooled their two sons and served over 25 years as a youth minister and Scoutmaster for Troop 99 in the Boy Scouts.

This is a really great product. I'm taking a Medical Entomology class at my University and needed to purchase this book for the course. This book is simply the best book on catering, food service, the restaurant business, industrial cooking, and the entire back-end of the food-service industry.

I believe it to be a textbook, as it is written like one. No matter - there is almost limitless valuable [and invaluable] data stored in this almost-pocket-sized book.

No manager or pro chef should be without this book - even if you don't read it, you would still have a resource for those emergencies that arise.

Costing, food prep, equipment - it is all in there. I have not seen a more complete or better book on the vast array of segments of the food-service trade.

With Dante being Annie’s new master, she is thrust into a debauched world she never imagined existed, but she isn’t sure anymore if being his mare is what she truly wants. All she knows is that she wants her beloved stallion Coal back.

Lovely pony tale in a steampunk dystopian world

Steampunk, pony play and betrayal - The Stablegirl contains elements I love. Little Orphan Annie with her lovely blond locks is sold into slavery by someone she thought she loved. Working in London for an Aristocrat as a scullery maid is a boring and tedious job. What is worse, is the horrible bullying she experiences from the other servants. One day this all changes when she's upgraded from scullery maid to stablegirl. Except she isn't taking care of a horse, she's responsible for the human stallion, Coal.

The characters are wonderful. Annie is a naïve girl who makes wishes she doesn't believe will ever come true. She is gentle, too trusting and completely inadequate to navigate this hostile world as a human. This one theme seems to be central to Miss Merikan's Bylondon Copper Horse world. Humans who fail miserably in life are redeemed and better off as ponies.

Coal is an interesting character. He is a pony for only a year. When he returns to his human self, Dante, it seems his fortune is of a wealthy gentleman ready to make Annie's dream come true. He'll whisk her away from all the drudgery and into a spoiled life of a breeding mare. The story behind Dante's life once revealed is heartbreaking. It's these little twists and turns which pulls me into story and love it. I love both Dante and Coal's story and what he tries to do to make it better for everyone. His heart is golden and his intent is pure. Unfortunately, he's been dealt a raw hand and befriended despicable snakes. It is sad to see how hard he tries only to make grievous mistakes. When Annie is in the mix, the world seems to spin a bit more out of control and in the end together, they are able to find their happily ever after. They really survive because they are two parts to a whole.

This is a sweet romance which is unexpected. There is less darkness in this m/f story compared to a couple of m/m stories written by the same authors. The graphic telling of sexual violations is missing in this book. This is a gentler pony fetish story. The pony play in here is quite fabulous. It's well done with exquisite detail of play mixed in with heartwarming emotion. I love when Coal comes to play with Annie's alter ego - Creme. The way the authors capture two humans becoming both vulnerable yet more powerful in their pony persona is entrancing.

The descriptions in this story are fabulous. It is easy to see every smog filled sky and steampunk dressed person. This dystopian Victorian world Miss Merikan creates is gritty with pollution and zombies. The climate is filled with blatant backstabbing. Miss Merikan has a way with words and this book from start to finish is silky smooth with nary a word misplace. Each sentence is thoughtfully created and edited for both elegance and efficiency. Miss Merikan weaves a lovely tale with her words which is an epicurean feast for logophiles. Highly recommended for kinky readers who enjoy steampunk, lovers united and love conquers all theme.

Awesome, as always with this authors. They always deliever a strong and powerful story, brave,, well written and full of interesting points. Even if this is a spinoff you can readit as a standalone, but i strongly suggest to read The Copper Horse saga.

I received this book from the authors for an honest review.
Annie is a slave and works her fingers to the bones as a scullery made, for her rich master and dreams of a better life although she doesn't really believe it's in the charts for her. She's figurately invisible to others until she's entrusted to take care of Coal, her masters prized human stallion. Dante is a pony for pay and he lives, in Annie's opinion, pampered and easy life and she sometimes wishes she could be in his place.As a pony he can't speak, but these two gentle souls with a hearts of gold connect and comfort each other. They are not lonely anymore. The day when Coal's/Dante's contract expires is the worst day of Annie's life. But Dante comes back and buys her from her master...
This is a story of love and passion between two people, who somehow managed too keep their hearts pure in the fictional steampunk world of debauchery and allmost nonexistent human values. It is very well written, but we expect nothing less from these authors, based on their previous work. I only wish they would go further and deeper in character development.
It can be read as standalone, but I would strongly recommend to read The copper horse one and two first, especially if you're not familiar with pony play. It's also a spinoff, because Coal features in in these two books. I can assure you, that you'll enjoy this one much more and understand the story, the characters and the world they live in much better.

This book tells the story of a Dutch boy who grew up during the 1950s in post-war Borneo, where he had frequent encounters with an airplane, the Douglas DC-3, aka the C-47 Skytrain or Dakota of World War II fame. For a young boy living in a remote jungle community, the aircraft reached the proportions of a romantic icon, as the essential lifeline to a bigger world for him, the beginning of a special bond.

In 1957 his family left the island, and all its residual wreckage of World War II, and he attended college in The Hague. After graduation he started a career as a corporate executive, and met the aircraft again during business trips to the Americas. His childhood passion for the Dakota flared up anew, and the fascination pulled like a magnet. As if predestined, or maybe just looking for an alibi to come closer, he began a business to salvage and convert Dakota parts, which meant first of all finding them.

As the demand for these war relic parts and cockpits soared, he began to travel the world to track down surplus, crashed or derelict Dakotas. He ventured deeper and deeper into remote mountains, jungles, savannas and the seas where the planes are found, usually as ghostly wrecks but sometimes still in full commercial operation. In hunting the mythical Dakota he often encountered intimidating or dicey situations in countries plagued by wars or revolts, others by arms and narcotics trafficking, warlords and con men.

This book describes his multiple expeditions in search of the remains of the Dakota legend. It takes the reader to some of the remotest spots in the world, but once there one is often greeted by the comfort of what was once the West’s apex in transportation―however now haunted by the courageous airmen of the past.

Hans Wiesman takes us on an intercontinental crusade, country to country, island to island; and it’s fair to say his story could count as one of those likeable books you can pick up and put down as and when. By its very nature the story is episodic but do not take this as a criticism. The writing is assured and well paced and you can feel the enthusiasm of the author at the turn of every page. The photography is well captioned and, of course, the pix are all fascinating. Just about everyone has seen those internet snaps of Dakotas used by scuba divers and all this stuff and more is included in the author’s story. His passion is beyond doubt and his knowledge and experience in the field of seeking out aircraft could well be unrivalled. His contacts book must be huge and I presume he has to get people in to help write all his Christmas cards for him. The book finds a fitting conclusion with our man Hans helping to save the DC-3 now on display at the Merville Battery in Normandy. He gets the chance to mix Dakotas with his passion for Harleys and you cannot help but come away with the idea that this is pretty cool. In fact, if I needed to find the briefest of reviews for this book, then “pretty cool” would do it. I suspect the author would be satisfied with that if he ever finds time to slow down. About the Author
Dutchman Hans Wiesman grew up in post colonial Borneo where his father worked as an engineer for Shell Oil. Growing up in the jungle, Hans was bitten by the Dakota bug at a young age, as the leftover cargo planes from WWII were the only connection to an outside world he had ever seen. 35 years later, while working as an advertising executive, Hans ran into a Dakota during a photo shoot in South America and was immediately mesmerized again. He decided to turn his passion into a full time job and has since been scouring the most remote regions of the planet on a quest to find the last forgotten Dakotas in the world

Great adventure, highly recommended

This is a most attractive book, - nicely printed and bound and with gold-embossed lettering along the spine. More importantly, it is an exciting book. The author shares his adventurous life - and his love for the DC-3 - with us in a charming, informative and humoristic manner. A free and easy childhood on the threshold of the Borneo jungle was followed by university education in his native Netherlands and a career in the corporate world (which included several spectacular aviation related events). Eventually, he set up his own business and started tracking down, buying and converting the wingtips of defunct DC-3 aircraft into designer desks! His quest took him all over the planet and he writes hilariously about his failures and successes in developed and developing countries, trying to do business with people of all shades of honesty. The book is illustrated with a wealth of interesting colour photos. A must for anyone interested in historic aircraft, especially for fans of the 80-year old DC-3 in all its shapes and varieties.

They are gone forever, somewhere in the eerie depths of the Indian Ocean. Probably the best grave they could have wished for. They slipped quietly away into the abyss where no human claim nor quarrel can ever touch them again. I could not have dreamt up a better ending for these brave warriors.”

Highly entertaining and not just for DC3 fans. Mr Weisman has many interesting stories to tell about the interesting countries he has visited searching for DC3 parts. Some may see irony in the fact he only wants the parts to build office desks but there is much more to his story and his affection for the plane shines through.

Great for Starting Out in Higher Positions

If you're starting out learning third position, as I am, this is just your speed. It starts out very easy, then gets progressively more difficult. I'm still in the beginning of the book, so can't comment on the later sections, but I'm enjoying the pieces, switching back and forth between playing them in first and third positions to see how much easier it can be in the higher position.
