About the Author
Heather M. Bush, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. In addition to teaching in the M.P.H., Dr.P.H., and Ph.D. programs, Dr. Bush provides guest lectures in introductory biostatistics and collaborates on a variety of projects in the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Behavioral Sciences, and Health Sciences. She also has a successful track record of collaborating with, advising, and teaching researchers and other established professionals. Dr. Bush received the Golden Apple Award for teaching in the College of Public Health in 2008 and the Provost's Outstanding Teaching Award in 2009. Before joining the UK faculty, she served as a senior biostatistician for disease and product registries in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Bush is also a member of the steering committee and serves as the primary biostatistician for the Kentucky Women's Health Registry.

I purchased this book because my students were talking about it as an excellent resource for anyone on biostatistics and it is as good as they said. Very well-written, with clear examples from real life problems. Not confusing and complex like many statistics books (and I have many of these!), this author knows how to teach biostatistics to everyone. A great addition to my library and one that I will be using often. Highly recommended for students, practicing health professionals and anyone that wants to really understand the basics of biostatistics. My only regret? I wish that it was available in hard-cover.

nice size and synopsis especially multiple logistic regression but quite a few typographical errors. Worth buying but recommend supportive texts especially for case studies and problems.

Amazing Resource

This is a must have. Instructors in biostatistics courses focused on public health should definitely use this as supplemental material. It has helped get me through some terminology and provides practical uses for biostatistics in public health. It is not written from a mathematician/statistician perspective. It is written from an applicable public health perspective. Provides hope for public health students at any level struggling to survive their biostatistics courses. I will be returning all my other textbooks when I am done with my biostatistics course. But, I am keeping this guide forever as a reference to support my endeavors in my career as a public health practitioner.
